pilipovich-acAUBURNDALE, FLA. -- Capital University rallied from a 7-5 deficit to earn a 9-7 baseball victory in 10 innings over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Tuesday.

Capital scored one run in the eighth and one in the ninth to force extra innings, then won the game with two runs in the 10th. 

Senior Nick Pilipovich (Terre Haute/North) smashed a home run among three hits with two runs scored to lead the Rose-Hulman offense.

Junior Hank Akard (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) and freshman Caleb Kissel (Plainfield, Ill./North) pitched in with three singles each.  Akard scored twice with one RBI, and Kissel also had one RBI.

Freshman Patrick Klima (South Bend/St. Joseph) and junior Andrew Benitez (Mililani, Hawaii) also had multiple-hit games with two singles each.  Klima led the team with three runs scored.

Taylor Branisel and Matt Carnahan led the Capital offense wtih three hits each.  Michael Flegal pitched four innings and scattered four hits to pick up the win, with Sam Sifferlin pitching the 10th inning for a save.

Rose-Hulman stands 1-2 on the season and returns on action on Thursday against Augustana College.
