WINTER HAVEN, FLA. -- Brandeis scored the game winning run in the sixth inning, and Kyle Brenner tossed a complete game to lead a 3-2 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in college baseball action on Sunday.

Rose-Hulman jumped out to a 2-1 lead on a double by junior Hank Akard (Indianapolis/Ben Davis), an RBI single by sophomore Andrew Benitez (Mililani, Hawaii) and an RBI double by junior Bobby Newman (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg).

Brandeis scored once in the first, second and sixth innings to secure the win.  Brenner scattered 10 hits with three strikeouts to earn the complete game win for Brandeis.

Akard led the Rose-Hulman offense with two doubles.  Newman added a single, double and one RBI, with Benitez contributing two singles and one RBI.  Freshman Andrew Bryant (Indianapolis/Franklin Central) also had a single and a double.

Freshman Ben Minich (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect) led the pitching effort with five innings and two runs allowed for a no decision.

Rose-Hulman stands 1-1 on its Florida trip and returns to action against Wartburg on Monday.
