AUBURNDALE, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored 11 runs in the first two innings and cruised past Milwaukee School of Engineering 14-2 as part of the team's baseball trip to Florida on Wednesday.
Rose-Hulman pounded out five hits in the first inning and four more in the second to set the early tone. Junior Matthew Turk (Addison, Ill./Addison Trail) led the onslaught with three hits, including a double, and four RBIs.
Sophomore Parker Fulkerson (Terre Haute/Holy Cross U.) added two singles, one double and scored three times.
Other Rose-Hulman players with multiple hits included sophomore Andrew Benitez (Mililani, Hawaii) with two singles and two runs scored; junior Bobby Newman (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) with two singles, three runs and two RBIs; and senior Will Burchett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) with two singles, one RBI and one run scored.
Sophomore Hank Akard (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) added a triple and scored twice, with junior Donald Stopka (Grayslake, Ill./Carmel Catholic) contributing a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
The offensive onslaught helped junior Matt Green (Lemont, Ill.) improve to 1-0 on the season with 6.2 innings on the mound. Green scattered nine hits and allowed two runs with four stirkeouts in the win.
Rose-Hulman improved to 3-2 in Florida and returns to action on Thursday with a matchup against Loras.
