HAUTE, IND. -- Anderson University vaulted themselves into the
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament
Championship Round with a 5-1 win over Franklin College
Nolan Schaefer threw five strike outs and
allowed just four hits in seven innings to pick up the
Kyle Beckman led the Ravens offense with two
hits and two runs scored. Michael Tucker finished with two
hits and one run batted in. Brett Detty scored two runs and
also had a hit and an RBI.

hits and the lone run for the Grizzlies' offense.
Tied at 0-0 threw five innings, two errors
by Franklin allowed Anderson to take a 2-0 lead. Detty
reached on an error and then scored on the following play on a
throwing error when Tucker hit a single. Beckman scored in
Franklin closed the gap with a run in the
seventh inning. Entwistle singled to start the inning,
advanced to second when DuBois walked, then stole third base.
He scored on a sacrifice fly by Jameson Brock.
Anderson then answered with three runs in
the eighth. Beckman singled with one out to start the rally
then advanced to second on a balk and scored on a double by Zach
Garcia. Garcia then scored on the next play off a Detty
single down the right field line. A sacrifice fly by Jacob
Craft scored Detty and gave the Ravens a 5-1 lead which proved to
much for Franklin.
Anderson is now 27-16 on the year and will
face Manchester in the championship round at noon Saturday.
Franklin falls to 31-11. Manchester will win the HCAC
Tournament with just one win against Anderson. Anderson must
defeat Manchester in both games to earn the championship
#1 in the nation for 15 years!
