Technology advanced to the semifinal round of the Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with an 8-3 win over
Anderson on Friday.
Senior Michael Kovacs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) smashed a two-run home run among a team-high three hits to lead the Engineer offense.
Junior Derek Dauenbaugh (Bloomington, Ill./University) added three hits and scored once, with senior B.J. Zobrist (Eureka, Ill.), sophomore Matthew Turk (Addison, Ill./Addison Trail) and sophomore Bobby Newman (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) adding two hits each.
The offensive effort helped junior Jim Bob Schuler (Salem/North Harrison) (pictured) pick up the victory with a strong eight-inning performance. Schuler held one of the league's top offensive teams to three runs in eight innings of work.

The Fightin' Engineers won the 2009 and 2010 HCAC Tournament titles to earn automatic bids to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Rose-Hulman will seek its fourth straight NCAA appearance after qualifying for the national tournament in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
