Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology trustee and alumnus
Warren Mickens has been appointed vice president of operations for Qwest
Wholesale Markets, a division of Qwest Communications.
In his new role, Mickens (Mech. Eng., '77) will direct a
team that provides a broad range of support and service functions
critical to Wholesale's daily operations, including sales support,
service delivery, process management, sales engineering, and billing and
collections. He replaces Brian Stading, who recently was named the
company’s vice president of sales support operations for Mass Markets,
and reports to Roland Thornton, executive vice president of Qwest
Wholesale Markets.
Mickens has more than 30 years of industry experience,
and joins Qwest from Alcatel-Lucent in Lisle, Ill., where he was vice
president of services. Mickens was also the general program manager for
Alcatel in Wellington, New Zealand.
“Qwest Wholesale Markets is made up of a talented group
of people who are dedicated to serving customers, and we are very
pleased to have Warren join the team given his breadth of experience in
the United States and abroad,” Thornton said. “He brings a strong
background in manufacturing as well as the telecommunications industry,
including service delivery, wholesale operations, and network and
wireless engineering.”
Prior to joining Alcatel, Mickens served as vice
president of network planning and engineering for AT&T/Ameritech, vice
president of strategy and interconnection with SBC Telecom, and vice
president of operations for Ameritech Information Industry Services.
Besides a bachelor of science degree from the
Rose-Hulman, Mickens earned a master of business administration from
Harvard University.
