Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology alumnus Barry
Portman is moving up in the oil business, being appointed manager of
drilling and well operations for Texas-based Enhanced Oil Resources Inc.
after spending most of his career with Marathon Oil and Kinder Morgan
CO2. Portman began his new position on Nov. 21.
Portman, a 1997 mechanical engineering alumnus, has 10
years of experience in the oil industry. He was most recently Drilling
and Well Operations Manager for Kinder Morgan CO2, being responsible for
drilling and production operations in enhanced oil recovery (EOR)
fields. He also served as production manager for the company.
"Barry's experience in the oil and gas industry and his
knowledge of CO2 drilling and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) operations
will greatly help the company as it executes its plan to become one of
the largest EOR resource companies in the country," stated Enhanced Oil
Resources President and Chief Executive Officer Barry Lasker.
Enhanced Oil Resources Inc. is a development stage,
enhanced oil recovery, company that controls approximately 235,000 acres
of land within the St. Johns Helium/CO2 field in Arizona and New Mexico,
where the company is developing what is thought to be the largest
undeveloped resource of helium and carbon dioxide gases in North
America.
Independent engineering firms have estimated that the
St. Johns field contains approximately 15 trillion cubic feet of
in-place resources, with a potential recoverable resource of five
trillion cubic feet. Development of the project could result in the
company becoming one of North America's largest CO2 suppliers and EOR
producers.
The company's strategic focus for CO2 delivery and EOR
production is the Permian Basin, where significant potential exists for
enhanced oil recovery from mature, depleted oil fields.
