A Career In Physics

The most important component of our program is the student. The curriculum is designed to develop a strong foundation that prepares students for a range of job opportunities, including positions at companies that are regarded as technology leaders. Upon completion of their degree, students find themselves adequately prepared to pursue a variety of career options. While some go on to study at the graduate level and to top-rated Ph.D. programs, others opt for challenging careers in industry.

We also are very successful in placing students in summer internship positions with various companies such as NASA, Argonne National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory, National Radio Astronomy Observatory and CSPAAR.

Degrees can lead to rewarding careers in:

  • Staff engineers
  • Research scientists
  • Technical directors of national research labs
  • Design and development work in industrial laboratories
  • Consumer electronics industry
  • Fiber optic communications
  • Laser device technology
