As per general Institute rules on attendance, attendance at all Engineering Management class meetings is required. Your attendance will ensure that you get the most out of the active learning experience. In a course that meets 4 times a week for 50-minute sessions (4 x 1), students who miss more than 2 classes without a valid excuse will receive a final grade reduced by up to one full grade level. Similarly, in a course that meets twice a week for two hours (2 x 2) or once a week for four hours (1 x 4), students who miss more than 1 class without a valid excuse will receive a final grade reduced up to one full grade level. Students whose total absences (excused and unexcused) exceed 8 (for a 4 x 1 course), 4 for a (2 x 2 course), or 2 for a (1 x 4 course) will fail the course.
The student is responsible for informing the instructor in writing (email) of any legitimate excuses and making arrangements for make-up work, if permitted, as soon as possible. Whenever possible, the student must discuss unavoidable absences with instructors in advance. Job-related trips, job and graduate school interviews, attending conferences or Institute-sponsored activities, illness (documented), and exceptional circumstances are considered valid excuses provided that every attempt to avoid missing major assignments has been made.
