Department Head's Welcome
First and foremost, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to our friends and alumni. You are always in our thoughts, but during this season we enjoy the cards and notes you send us, and we have more opportunities to remember past department Christmas parties and cherish all of the blessings that come from having all of you as a part of our family. The faculty and staff wish all of you a warm, safe, and renewing Christmas season.
We have not sent our CE Echoes to all of you in a while. Apparently, as far as the CE Echoes is concerned, the best of intentions do not always pave a path to publication. Because it has been some time since publication, we have deferred on including some older news, such as information from some of our department activities last spring. During the past six months, we have also been transitioning to a new web page format, and our CE news will be provided in a few different ways in the future. While we'll continue to issue CE Echoes, many of the articles we publish will also become part of our Civil News page on our website. That web location is http://www.rose-hulman.edu/academics/academic-departments/civil-engineering/department-news/civil-news.aspx, which is linked under the Department News link. You will also find other Rose-Hulman news of relevance to CE alumni and friends under Department News. As our new CE web page evolves, there will be some construction zones and some content that you may see in partial stages of development. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work on that new web presence.
The department is not currently supporting a Facebook or Linked-In presence, although Rose-Hulman does have a Facebook page that alumni and friends may want to check out. However, as Department Head, I have both Facebook and Linked-In pages. Although not a big user of these forms of social media, alumni have asked us to have some presence there and this is a simple way to be available to all of you in a less official capacity. I am using both Facebook and Linked-In to identify opportunities to connect better with all of you, and I will occasionally provide updates on both pages about what is going on in the department. Feel free to send me a friend request in either social media to be included in those short updates.
I hope you enjoy this CE Echoes. If you have any news to share with us, please send a message to Department Secretary Kathy Nicoson or myself. This will allow us to share your news with others in our next issue of CE Echoes.
Once again, have a blessed Christmas holiday!
