In addition to advanced studies or practicing engineers, students may also use this academic background as a stepping stone to positions in management, administration, law, or some other non-engineering field. Thus, students are prepared for long-term productive careers.
The first two years include courses that deal with the principles of mathematics, physical and engineering as well as introductory courses in engineering and design. The last two years are devoted to developing the necessary technical competence to apply the acquired knowledge to the design and synthesis of complex civil engineering projects. Engineering design and laboratory experiences are emphasized in all four years to develop a sound academic foundation.
