Peter Gustafson

GustafsonPeter Gustafson, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, is responsible for all of Student Life, which includes Housing, Dining Services, the Student Union, Athletics, Performing Arts, Sports and Recreation, Career Services, Public Safety, and Health and Counseling Services. Through many years of service to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Peter Gustafson has been promoted multiple times.

Prior to joining Rose-Hulman, Pete served as Residence Hall Director at Indiana State University and Head Resident and Assistant Director of Student Activities at Urbana College.

Gustafson was named Honorary Alumnus of Rose-Hulman in 2003 and received the President's Outstanding Service Award in 1983. He also has served as Adviser to the Student Government Association since 2000, has served on the Admissions and Standings Committee, Student Affairs Committee, the Commission on the Assessment of Student Outcomes and the First Year Team, and as Advisor of the Residence Hall Association.

He has served on the Association of College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-I), Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers (GLACUHO), National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS), and National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).

Gustafson earned a MS in College Student Personnel and BS in Secondary Education from Bowling Green State University.

His involvement in the community includes Education Division Co-Chair for the United Way of the Wabash Valley, various positions with Trinity Lutheran Church, including Council Vice President, Girls' Softball Coach for Miss Softball America and Riley Little League, Riley Little League Board of Directors, and Chair of the Rose-Hulman United Way Campaign.

Pete Gustafson is married to Donna who is the Dean of Student Services at Rose-Hulman. The couple has two children, Jacquelyn, who is married and works at Union Hospital, and Matthew, who works in Student Life at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota. Gustafson enjoys sports, traveling, and gardening.
