Girl Scout Day

Rose Hulman SWE is actively involved in the community. In order to help young girls become more interested and knowledgeable about math and science, SWE put a program together for 4th-6th grade Girl Scouts.

Twice a year, SWE puts on a Girl Scout Engineering Patch Day for 4th through 6th grade girls.  This event was originally established because the patches and programs offered in girl scouts were not hands-on or very interesting.  Members of Rose-Hulman’s SWE decided to provide an all day event where girl scouts can come to learn about math, science, and engineering in a hands-on environment.  We set up stations for the girls to explore different types of science and engineering.  The stations include chemical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and model airplanes.  We also have demonstrations by other clubs for chemistry and biology.
