Word of Welcome from the President

Welcome - that word has always had a warm connotation to me. It says you are a part of things and you are wanted. The Rose-Hulman Women's Club welcomes the entire community of women at Rose. Our group is a framework; it is here to help those who are new to Rose and Terre Haute learn about the area and what it has to offer and about their colleagues, but it is also for those who have been here. One reason Rose is such a friendly, connected community is that we all have opportunities to meet and build friendships throughout the entire institute.

The group is full of opportunities and we hope that if something looks interesting you'll check it out. The board has planned a variety of club-wide activities over the year for everyone to enjoy. Watch your campus (or home) mail for flyers with detailed information.

There is also a wide selection of interest groups. The interest groups focus on special areas. There are groups that meet at all times of the day. Some include children, some include spouses, and some are just for us. Each year the list of groups changes to reflect changing interests. In fact, if you think of an activity that you'd like to see, please let the board know. We'd be happy to put a notice in the newsletter to start a new group.

The first year at a new school is a busy time of settling into home and work. We understand this, and to make the transition easier, we offer a courtesy membership for the first year. Please try some of our activities. I think you will find the women of Rose always willing to share their knowledge of the community, their many talents, and their heartfelt friendships.

For all the women of Rose, we are your club. Your comments and suggestions make this a better group for everyone. This is sure to be an exciting year, and we invite you to be part of it!
