What is NSBE?

NSBE is the largest student run organization in the country containing over 30,000 members.  These members belong to 75 professional chapters, 75 pre-collegiate chapters (middle school and high school level), and 300 collegiate chapters across the globe.  This non-profit organization is dedicated to both the academic and professional success of African-American engineering students and professionals.  Each chapter contributes to leadership training, professional development, mentoring programs, and career placement services.

What does the NSBE Torch mean?

The NSBE emblem has two key elements. First there is the TORCH, which according to the National NSBE Website, "symbolizes our everlasting burning desire to achieve success in this competitive society and to affect a positive change on the quality of life for all people". The second element, the LIGHTNING BOLTS, "represent the striking impact that will be felt by the Society and industry due to the contributions and accomplishments made by dedicated members of the National Society of Black Engineers."
