How do I fly an RC(Remote Control) aircraft?
If you are interested in flying, every Friday around 4:30 or 5:00pm we fly our RC Trainer down
at the RHIT Football Field/Track.
(Weather Permitting)

Beginner's Guide (Howard Sullivan)
Ways the Club can teach you.
- A basic computer RC simulator that allows a novice learn without the fear of crashing.

- The Club RC Trainer and buddy cable.
To train a novice pilot how to fly a real RC aircraft, we have a twin transmitter
and buddy cable setup. This allows the control of the aircraft to be transferred
from the pilot's transmitter to the novice's, and back again with the flick of a
switch. This allows the pilot to regain control of the aircraft when the novice
has gotten into trouble.
A typical flight.
- The pilot handles the takeoff, then transferrs control to the novice's transmitter after
reaching around 200ft. If the novice looses control, then the
pilot will take control of the aircraft and return it to the before said height before
transfering control back to the novice. After 15 minutes of flight, the pilot will take
control and land the aircraft. The flights may last longer, but will risk a dead stick or power
off landing.
