Installing AFS for Laptops

Installation Instructions
- Uninstall ALL previous versions of Wake, Leash, AFS Client and/or OpenAFS. Instructions for removing Wake are located at http://www.rose-hulman.edu/TSC/software/documentation/applications/leash/uninstalling_wake/
- Reboot
- Login as Localmgr
- Click Start -> Run and type \\rose-hulman.edu\dfs\software
- Enter your username and password if prompted
- Double click Apps -> AFS for Laptops -> 1-openafs-en_US-1-5-7700-RHIT.msi
- Click Next at the Welcome screen
- Accept the license agreement and click Next
- Choose the Typical Install
- Click Next
- Click Next
- Click Install
- The program will begin installing
- Click Finish
- Do NO reboot after installing OpenAFS
- Double click 2-kfw-i386-3-2-2-RHIT.msi
- Click Next at the Welcome screen
- Accept the license agreement and click Next
- Choose the Typical Install
- Click Install
- The program will begin installing
- Click Finish
- Double click 3-setServicePermission
- Click Open
- You may be prompted for your localmgr password followed by your network password
- Reboot
- Run the Network Identity manager for the first time. Click Start -> All Programs -> Kerberos for Windows -> Network Identity Manager. You may need to single click the white cube that appears in the system tray

- Click on Options -> AFS... in the menu alt="AFS Menu Option" />
- Start OpenAFS by clicking Start service

- Click Credential -> Obtain new credentials...

- Enter your username and password and click Ok.
- If you see the error "Identity [name] is invalid, as shown in the picture shown below, double-check your username and try again

- Close the Network Identity Manager window, but do NOT close the program
- Double click My Network Places on your desktop
- Click Add Network Place
- Click Next at the Welcome screen
- Select Choose another network location and click Next
- Enter the name of the directory you want to add:
- Class folder - \\afs\rose-hulman.edu\class
- Home folder - \\afs\rose-hulman.edu\users\stu####\username
- Root folder - \\afs\rose-hulman.edu
- Users folder - \\afs\rose-hulman.edu\users
- Click Next
- Type the name for the directory and click Next
- Click Finish
- All of the directories in AFS are now accessible through My Network Places
