Outlook 2007 Setup for Exchange

When you are asked for your username and password while using Outlook, you must enter your username as username@rose-hulman.edu

If you are off-campus, please have the VPN running before attempting to setting up Outlook. You will need to run the VPN before using Outlook to check your email. To setup Outlook so that it does not require VPN when off campus, first complete the steps below then follow the steps on "No VPN Outlook" page.

Creating your new Exchange account

  • Click Start -> Control Panel -> Mail
  • [Mail Setup - Outlook] Click the E-mail Accounts... button
  • [E-mail Accounts] Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, then click Next
  • [E-mail Accounts] Click Add...
  • [Server Type] Click Microsoft Exchange Server, then click Next
  • [Exchange Server Settings] Enter evs-ccr.rose-hulman.edu as the Microsoft Exchange Server, make sure Use Cached Exchange Mode is checked, enter your User Name, then click Check Name
  • IMPORTANT: If you are prompted for your username and password after clicking Check Name, you must enter your username as username@rose-hulman.edu
  • It may take up to 1 minute for the Check Name process to complete. Upon completion, the Microsoft Exchange Server and your User Name should change
  • Click on More Settings...
  • [Microsoft Exchange Server] Click on the Security tab, enable Encrypt data between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange Server, then click OK
  • [Exchange Server Settings] Click Next
  • [Microsoft Office Outlook] A window will ask about your Microsoft Exchange Server account and delivery locations. Click Yes
  • You may be prompted for your username and password. IMPORTANT: You must enter your username as username@rose-hulman.edu
  • [E-mail Accounts] Change Deliver new e-mail to the following location to be Mailbox - Your Name
  • Click Finish
  • [Account Manager] A window will notify you that You have changed the default location for your email. Click OK
  • You may be prompted for your username and password. IMPORTANT: You must enter your username as username@rose-hulman.edu
  • [Mail Setup - Outlook] Click Close
  • Start Outlook
  • IMPORTANT: If you are prompted for your username and password when starting Outlook, you must enter your username as username@rose-hulman.edu
  • Within a minute, you should see messages appear in your Inbox
  • Outlook may take several minutes to fully sync with the Exchange server the first time
