Beginning with the 2005-2006 school year, the IAIT Help Desk will no longer be running malware/spyware cleaning scans on student laptops. Due to the extensive amount of time that malware scans take, it will be the responsibility of the student to scan their own laptop. While malware is a common problem, it is a preventable problem.
Detailed instructions for removing malware can be found on our Malware Removal Guide. Additionally, the Help Desk can answer questions related to this guide and the general cleaning of malware.
If a student does not wish to clean their laptop of malware, or they encounter malware which is resistant to cleaning, they can bring their laptop to the Help Desk for a reload. While a reload causes some form of inconvenience, it is the only solution guaranteed to be 100% effective at removing all malware.
