6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Computer Science (CSSE) Test

F225, Moench Hall
This optional exam is for students who wish to place into CSSE 221, Fundamentals of Software Development Honors. This course is intended for students who have substantial programming experience in an object-oriented language such as Java. Upon completion of the course, students will receive credit for both Fundamentals of Software Development I and II. Those who have earned an AP score of 4 or 5 should not take this exam; such students will be automatically placed into CSSE221. The placement exam will be used to help students who did not take the APCS exam to decide whether Fundamentals of Software Development Honors or Fundamentals of Software Development I (CSSE120) is the most appropriate beginning course for them. Transfer students with approved transfer credit are excused from taking the exam. All Fundamentals of Software Development courses are taught in Java.

This session is for students not enrolled in the CSSE program. It will highlight the role of CS/SE in engineering careers and the opportunities available to do a minor or a double major in CSSE. The session will be a preview of the first CSSE class.

This new course is the first required one in the new Robotics Certificate program;

The CENS information describes how our outdoor siren system operates as well as how to register for emergency notifications via text messaging, email, phone call or other media.

Hear about such things as the origins of Rosie the Elephant, the unlamented freshman beanie, the art of "laking", the science of bonfire construction, outhouse placement, Greek colonization, Fightin' Engineer all-stars, and secrets of the success of the Solar Phantom and the Challenge X Race Team as well as other lore and legends. This event will be followed by a late night snack.

RHIT Mathematics Placement Exam
TThere is no specific time set aside for RHIT Mathematics Placement Exams during student orientation as placement is primarily accomplished through the national AP Calculus tests, college transfer credit, and Fast Track Calculus. Students wishing to write an RHIT Mathematics Placement Exam during student orientation must make an appointment with the Chair of the Mathematics Department in advance of arrival on campus.
