One Hundred and Thirty Third Commencement

Rose-Hulman's Commencement exercise will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011 in the Fieldhouse area of the Sports and Recreation Center.  Graduates are asked to arrive at 10:00 a.m. at Hatfield Hall to begin lining up for the academic procession.

Commencement Marshal Pete Gustafson, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, and Indianapolis Emerald Society Firefighters bagpipers lead the procession down the red carpet.

Caps and Gowns - Students participating in Commencement are expected to wear proper academic attire.  Caps, gowns, diploma frames, announcements, and other graduation merchandise can be ordered at the Graduation Fair which is held in February.  Students who are not on-campus and need to place an order can do so by contacting the Bookstore at 812-877-8344 or at Bookstore@Rose-Hulman.edu.  Please specify your height, weight and level of degree (MS or BS) when ordering.

Commencement Rehearsal - On May 12 at 4:30 p.m. graduates should report to Hulbert Arena of the Sports & Recreation Center for rehearsal. Commencement seating lineup and instructions will be distributed at this time. Bring your cap and gown as the senior class group picture will be taken. The Senior Send Off, sponsored by the Office of Alumni Affairs, will immediately follow. 

Senior Soiree Farewell Reception - On Friday, May 27th, graduates and parents of the class of 2011 are invited to a farewell reception hosted by The Office of Alumni Affairs. It will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. in Hulbert Arena of the Sports & Recreation Center. Students must register for this event in advance and include their parent or guest information. The red carpet treatment awaits graduates prior to crossing the stage to receive their diplomas.

Commencement -May 28, 2011, 11:00 a.m. in the Sports & Recreation Center  Graduates should report to Hatfield Hall at 10:00 a.m. to line up for the academic procession.

Guest Seating - It is not necessary for family and friends to have a seating ticket to attend Commencement.  As a courtesy to all guests in attendance, we ask that seats not be held for others.  Guests who require handicap access or seating for hearing impaired may request special seating in advance by contacting Kim Jones in the Student Affairs Office at (812) 877-8472 or email kimberly.jones@rose-hulman.edu. Handicap parking will also be available. 

 

Family, friends and faculty congratulate graduates at an after-commencement reception.

Photographs and videos - The Sports & Recreation Center is not suited for long range photography, especially flash photography. A professional photographer from Graduation Images will be present on stage at the ceremony to take a photograph of each graduate as they receive their diploma from the President.  You will receive a free proof of this photo in the mail.  You may visit the Graduation Images website at www.gradimages.com or have questions answered by calling 800-424-3686.
