Intramural Employment Opportunities_______________________________________________

Each year the Intramural Department offers students an opportunity to get involved within the Intramural Program by becoming a part of the staff. Students are hired and paid to officiate, umpire, keep score, and keep time for Intramural Sports. Employment opportunities through the work-study and work-opportunity programs are available to students who have an interest in officiating, scorekeeping, and time keeping. Contact the I.M. Director, Ryan Brimberry, at ext. 8621 if you are interested.

- Employee Handbook

Intramural Supervisor
Employees need to assist with the set up and take down of intramural events, and be available 20 minutes beforehand to ensure proper set up and that all equipment is at the appropriate location and in good condition.  Employees are also responsible for making sure that the first-aid kit is fully stocked, and to examine the facility and/or playing area for any safety hazards.

Supervisors are to ensure that all score sheets and forms are correct, as well as assist in team sign-in and verification of eligibility.  Supervisors are also to assign Intramural officials to their partners and field/court assignments.  They also need to ensure that games start on time and that communication and control is maintained throughout the game.  This may require officiating the game when needed, anticipation of problems, and aiding other Intramural employees.

Supervisors need to enforce Rose-Hulman policies and Procedures, and be able to handle situations that may arise.  Also, supervisors will need to participate in all training meetings and field clinics, and perform other duties as assigned.

Employees are expected to work one single day event or tournament per quarter, and maintain other duties as assigned.

Intramural Official
Employees need a strong working knowledge of the sport's playing rules or a willingness to learn them.  Employees are also expected to be at the game site at least 20 minutes beforehand to assist with the set up and take down, and ensure the area is safe for use.  Good communication with all officials, players, coaches, spectators, and coworkers is needed.

Employees are responsible for ensuring that participation takes place in a safe manner, intramural rules are enforced, and that any problems or concerns are reported to the Graduate Assistant.

Employees will need to dress appropriately for their sport and attend all training sessions, as well as be open and able to discuss calls and deal with injuries, disruptions, or other issues that may arise.

Employees are expected to work one single day event or tournament per quarter, and maintain other duties as assigned.

Scorekeeper/Timekeeper
Employees need to possess a general knowledge of intramural game rules and be available 20 minutes before the event to assist with set up and take down.  Employees are responsible for keeping score and time for games, and registering participants prior to the start of the event.

Employees are also responsible for properly completing scoresheets and written reports on all incidents/protests/ejections/etc.  Employees are to wear appropriate staff attire to all events, and to aid in dealing with injuries, disruptions, or other issues as needed.

Employees are expected to work one single day event or tournament per quarter, and maintain other duties as assigned.
