Our Chapter is very active.  We arrange several speakers, fieldtrips, service projects, and social events each year. Here is a list of some of our past and upcoming activities:

 
January 27 - 29, 2006 Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders WSCL is the workshop hosted each year for student ASCE officers around the country.
January 28, 2006 Ethics Presentation As winners of the 2004 Robert Ridgeway award we were asked to perform an ethics skit before all attendees of the WSCL conference.
February 4, 2006 Civil Pride Friday This is a popular social activity we organize about once a month for our members. It involves getting some juice and doughnuts and wearing our civil pride shirts.
February 8, 2006 Dr. Aidoo Presentation Dr. Aidoo, one of our Civil Engineering faculty, made a presentation on some of the research he conducted on the rehabilitation of bridges as a graduate student.
February 17, 2006 Cookout Another social activity we conduct regularly is a cookout. They are held outside of the soils lab and are a great way to get members together and socialize.
February 22, 2006 Fieldtrip February 16, 2006 a tornado touched down in Terre Haute. This field trip, lead by Dr. Hanson, was to the sites that suffered damage from the high winds.
March 11, 2006 Sports Complex Parking Lot Proposal

The Wabash Family Sports Complex is interested in hosting the next Junior Olympics. Our task is to analyze the grounds and propose additional parking alternatives to accommodate the Olympic attendees.

March 17, 2006 Civil Pride Friday This is a popular social activity we organize about once a month for our members. It involves getting some juice and doughnuts and wearing our civil pride shirts.
April 4,11,18,& 25, 2006 Hot Air Balloon Design Members of ASCE helped in the construction and launching of tissue hot air balloons built by elementary school students.
April 19, 2006 Blue Key Youth Seminar Presentation

In this activity the chapter made a presentation, along with several other engineering groups, to elementary students from the surrounding community. 

April 25, 2006 Youth Seminar at Hatfield Hall

This, like the Blue Key Youth Seminar, was an opportunity to make local students aware of what civil engineering is.  This program targeted middle school students.

April 27, 2006 ASCE Great Lakes Regional Conference

Each year a chapter takes a group of students to participate in the Great Lakes Regional Conference.  This year we placed second in the concrete shoe competition and third in the balsa wood bridge competition.

May 2, 2006 Hulman Street Field Trip

The Hulman Street Fieldtrip was given by a Rose-Hulman alumnus and former chapter member.  The tour was of a project in the early stages of construction.

May 6, 2006 Campus Beautification

Every year the Rose-Hulman community gets together to work on small projects throughout campus.  This year we helped place concrete for a few walkways.

September 6, 2006 Grad School Info Session

This was the first time this program had been arranged and it was immensely popular.  The meeting consisted of a panel of faculty giving insight as to how best to prepare for graduate school.

September 20, 2006 Monthly Meeting - Dam Engineering

This presentation was given on the engineering and design characteristics of dams.  The presentation was very interesting and looked at the various dam structures throughout the state of Indiana.

October 4, 2006 Moffatt & Nichol Presentation

In our presentation we attempt to incorporate a variety of topics.  To expand that this year we had a coastal engineer present on his discipline.

October 7, 2006 Homecoming Breakfast

Every year at homecoming our chapter and the civil engineering department collaborate to organize a small party for past alumni.  This year we had a large crowd attend.

October 11, 2006 Coreslab Field Trip

One of the largest trips our chapter takes every couple years is to the Indianapolis Speedway.  This year we took about ten students on the trip which consisted of a tour around the track as well as to the construction projects.

October 12, 2006 HEC-RAS Workshop

Two years ago this interesting opportunity arose for us to host this HEC-RAS conference.  In its second year it was still very popular among local professionals and has proved to be an enormous financial help to the chapter.

November 1, 2006 Indianapolis Speedway Field Trip

November 8, 2006 Nicholson Construction Presentation

Last year one of the best presentations was given by the head engineer from Nicholson Construction.  Fortunately he agreed to return again this year to present on some of the other projects he has worked on.

November 16, 2006 HEC-RAS Workshop

November 29, 2006 Winter Banquet

This year at the winter banquet a civil engineering alum agreed to come back and speak on his professional experiences.  His talk considered projects and “the personalities that build them.”

December 2, 2006 Wheelchair Ramp Community Service Project

The largest community service project this year was the wheel chair ramp.  It consisted of raising over $700 to build a code compliant ramp for an elderly gentlemen who was homebound.

December 6, 2006 Civil Engineering Internship Fair

Another tradition the chapter has developed is that of hosting an internship fair every winter.  This year several underclassmen came to hear what advice the upperclassmen had to give.

December 12, 2006 West Point Bridge Design

The final community service project we helped with was Explore Engineering.  This year we help sixty elementary and middle school students learn how to use the West Point Bridge Design program.

December 13, 2006 EMI Presentation

The last monthly meeting was had was given by Engineering Ministries International.  The presentation consisted of the elements of projects to help Indonesia.
