GREENCASTLE, IND. -- Rose Hulman Institute of Technology
scored in the final three minutes to force overtime, but DePauw
University provided the winner in a 2-1 extra time women's soccer victory on
Tuesday night.
Julia
Drummond scored in the 41st minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead at
the break.
Junior
Molly Richardson (Orange Park, Fla./St. John's Country Day)
provided the equalizer with 2:46 showing on the game clock to force
overtime as Rose-Hulman attempted to extend its five-match winning
streak.
Drummond
answered with the game winner in the 93rd minute to claim the
victory for DePauw.
The
Tigers outshot Rose-Hulman 18-2 in the match, but a strong effort by
goalkeeper Julie Brennan (Indianapolis/ Pike) that featured
three saves kept the Engineers in the match.
Rose-Hulman dropped to 7-9 on the season and continues to stand 6-1
in HCAC play. The Engineers would earn a share of the league
title and the top seed for next week's tournament if
Rose-Hulman defeats Mount St. Joseph on Saturday at Jim Rendel
Field.
