HAUTE, IND - Rose Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 3-1 in
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer action with
a 3-0 win over Franklin on Sunday.
Three
Engineers scored their first goal of the season to pace the offense,
and Rose-Hulman outshot the visiting Grizzlies by a 32-3 margin in
the contest.
Junior
Susanna Kelly (Evergreen, Ill./Queen of Peace) starting the
scoring with a goal in the 35th minute, courtesy of an assist from
junior Molly Richardson (Orange Park, Fla./St. John's Country
Day).
Rose-Hulman pushed its lead to 2-0 early in the second half on a
score by junior Annmarie Stanley (Warrenville, Ill./Rosary).
Richardson provided her second assist of the day on the tally.
Freshman
Amy Schleter (Knoxville, Tenn./Karns) rounded out the scoring
with a goal in the 71st minute. Senior Kendra Albers
(Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) offered the assist.
Sophomore
Anna Vogel (East Greenwich, R.I./ LaSalle Academy) paced the
offense with eight shots. Richardson added six and Stanley
joined sophomore Carolyn Guzik (Avon, Ohio/Padua Franciscan)
with four shots each.
Goalkeepers Julie Brennan (Indianapolis/Pike) and Jen
Jarvis (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) combined on the shutout with
two saves. Sara Perry and Amanda Welches combined for 15 saves
for Franklin.
Rose-Hulman stands 4-8 overall, while Franklin dropped to 3-9-1 and
1-3 in league play. The Fightin' Engineers travel to Anderson
University on Wednesday.
