BOX SCORE

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- The College of Mount St. Joseph scored the lone goal of a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament semifinal match in the second half to earn a 1-0 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Tuesday night.

Beth Schuermann, who was named HCAC Women's Player of the Month earlier on Tuesday, scored the lone goal of the match in the 77th minute to provide the Lions the victory.  Mount St. Joseph outshot the Engineers by a 14-8 count.

Rose-Hulman freshman Julie Brennan (Indianapolis/Pike) paced Rose-Hulman's defensive effort with seven saves, including three in a scoreless first half that helped key the Engineers within striking distance.

The two teams battled through a scoreless first half, with Mount St. Joseph outshooting the Engineers 5-4.  Mount St. Joseph fired the first five shots of the second half, but the Engineer defensive effort kept the Lions off the board for much of the frame.

Sophomore Eli Baca (Santa Fe, N.M.) paced the Engineer offense with four shots.  Sophomore Molly Richardson (Orange Park, Fla./St. John's County Day) added two shots for the Rose-Hulman offense.

Mount St. Joseph advances to the HCAC Tournament title match with the victory.  Rose-Hulman completed the season with a 12-7 record and tied for third place in the league standings at 5-3 under first-year head coach Emily Hakeman.
