BLUFFTON, OHIO -- The Rose-Hulman women's soccer
team earned a 6-0 shutout victory over host Bluffton University
on Saturday afternoon in Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference Soccer Action.
The Engineers outshot the host Beavers 21-7 and
were led offensively by senior Jen Lyman (Irwin, Pa./Penn
Trafford) who tallied a pair of goals and two assists in the
winning effort.
Lyman tallied the first goal for the Engineers in
the 6th minute on an assist by sophomore Molly Richardson
(Orange Park, Fla./St. John's Country Day).
Sophomore Annmarie Stanley (Warrenville,
Ill./Rosary) gave Rose-Hulman a 2-0 lead after putting a
corner kick in the back of the net in the 29th minute.
Richardson would add another goal for the
Engineers in the 31st minute on a Lyman assist to give Rose-Hulman
a 3-0 halftime advantage.
Lyman recorded her second assists of the match in
the 47th minute when sophomore Kendra Albers (Knoxville,
Tenn./Farragut Academy) netted her fourth goal of the season
to extend to lead to 4-0.
Sophomore Eli Baca (Santa Fe, N.M.) and
Lyman would added two more goals for the Engineers in the 56th
and 60th minutes to provide the final tally of 6-0.
Freshman Julie Brennan (Indianapolis/Pike)
recorded four saves in goal to earn the clean sheet and preserve
the shutout.
The Engineer women's squad returns to action on
Sunday, October12, when they host University of Dallas in a
non-conference game at Jim Rendel Field at Noon.
