  Rose-Hulman News Multiple Comebacks Fall Short as Millikin Tops Engineers
 

Jen Lyman scored the first and last Rose-Hulman career in an offensive minded game.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology rallied from two deficits to force overtime, before Millikin University topped the Engineers by a 5-4 score in women's soccer action on Wednesday.

Senior Jen Lyman (Irwin, Pa./Penn Trafford) and senior Liz Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./ Northwestern University) each scored two goals to lead the Rose-Hulman comeback.

Allison Gorne and Danielle Ptaszek scored in the first six minutes to give the visiting Big Blue a 2-0 advantage.

Lyman scored her first goal seven minutes into the second half to make the score 2-1 on a pass from freshman Alex Kampa (Garden Grove, Calif./Orange County Lutheran).

Ridgway knotted the score at 2-2 just three minutes later, before adding her 13th goal of the season in the 72nd minute to give Rose-Hulman a 3-2 lead.  Sophomore Annmarie Stanley (Warrenville, Ill./Rosary) tallied her league leading 10th assist of the fall on the third Rose goal.

Millikin regained the lead with two straight scores, by Tanya Romano in the 76th minute and Kelly Mitchell in the 83rd.  Lyman forced an extra session with her fourth goal of the season in the 89th minute on an assist from freshman Anna Vogel (East Greenwich, R.I./LaSalle Academy).

Millikin secured the win on a goal by Kelly Mitchell on an assist from Nikki Smith two minutes into the first overtime session to improve to 8-3 on the season.

Rose-Hulman stands 6-4 on the campaign and returns to action at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
