TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology improved to 1-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference women’s soccer play with a 3-2 double overtime
victory over Hanover College on Sunday.
Sophomore Molly Richardson
(Orange Park, Fla./St. John’s Country Day) scored in the 102nd
minute on a crossing pass from senior Jen Lyman (Irwin, Pa./Penn
Trafford) to give the Engineers their sixth overall victory of
the season.
Hanover gained the early lead
with a score by Jennifer Page in the sixth minute, before Rose-Hulman
senior Liz Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Northwestern University)
scored her league leading 11th goal of the season to tie the match
at 1-1 at halftime. Sophomore Annmarie Stanley (Warrenville,
Ill./Rosary) tallied her ninth assist of the campaign to
increase her conference lead.
The Engineers gained a 2-1
advantage early in the second half on a score by sophomore
Aleksandra Kampa (Garden Grove, Calif./Orange County Lutheran),
courtesy of an assist from Lyman.
Hanover knotted the score at 2-2
on a corner kick goal with five minutes left in regulation. Felicia
Adams finished the score on a header, directly from a corner kick by
Olivia Selm.
Rose-Hulman outshot Hanover 19-6
in the match, with Ridgway leading the offense with five shots.
Lyman and Richardson added four shots each.
Rose-Hulman improved to 6-3 on
the season and 1-1 in league play, while Hanover dropped to 2-6 and
0-1 in conference matches. The Engineers host Millikin University
on Wednesday night.
