  Rose-Hulman News Rose-Hulman Improves to 5-3 with Shutout of Spalding

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored five first-half goals to earn a 7-0 victory over Spalding University in women's soccer action on Friday afternoon.

Sophomore Molly Richardson (Orange Park, Fla./St. John's County Day) opened the scoring with in the 7th minute.  The score on a pass from senior Jen Lyman (Irwin, Pa./Penn Trafford).

The score reached 2-0 in the 20th minute on a score from sophomore Carolyn Guzik (Avon, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) on a pass from senior Liz Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Northwestern Univ.).

Sophomore Annmarie Stanley (Warrenville, Ill./Rosary) scored her first college goal on a pass from Richardson, then sophomore Eli Baca (Santa Fe, N.M.) made the score 4-0 on an assist from junior Kendra Albers (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut).

The score reached 5-0 prior to halftime on a score by freshman Aleksandra Kampa (Garden Grove, Calif./Orange County Lutheran) after a pass from Guzik.

Second half scoring began on the first career goal from freshman Molly Rice (Marion/Oak Hill) on an assist from Kampa.  The first multiple goal scorer of the contest was Kampa, on a score in the 57th minute on a pass from senior Lauren Trennel (Mentor, Ohio).

Rose-Hulman improved to 5-3 on the season with the victory and returns to action against Hanover College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Sunday.  Spalding dropped to 0-7 on the campaign.
