TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology relied on a school record four goals by senior Liz
Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Northwestern University) to
earn a come from behind 5-4 victory over Earlham College on
Wednesday.
Ridgway became the first player in school history
to score four times in a game, snapping the previous mark of
three scores that has happened 13 times. Her effort
included the final three goals of the match to turn a 4-2
deficit into the 5-4 victory.
The match was delayed by 2 1/2 hours by lightning
and heavy rain in the late afternoon at the Rose-Hulman
Intramural Field.
The last three scores of the match came courtesy
of assists from sophomore Annmarie Stanley (Warrenville,
Ill./Rosary). Ridgway's first goal was unassisted late
in the first half and turned a 3-1 deficit into a 3-2 score.
Freshman Aleksandra Kampa (Garden Grove,
Calif./Orange County Lutheran) scored the first Rose-Hulman
goal on an assist from senior Jen Lyman (Irwin, Pa./Penn Trafford).
Freshman Mary Ellenberger (Greenfield/Central)
earned her second victory of the season in goal by recording
eight saves in the win. Rachel Dana led the Earlham
offense with two scores.
The Engineers stand 2-1 on the season and travel
to Michigan for matchups at Kalamazoo on Saturday and Finlandia
on Sunday.
