TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's cross country ran well on their way to a tenth place finish at the Gibson Family Invitational.

The Engineers were led by senior Melissa Rogers (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) who ran the 6,000 meter race in a time of 23:37, good enough for an 11th place finish.  Freshman Creasy Clauser (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) finished 20th overall with a time of 24:04.

Other top runners for Rose-Hulman were senior Amanda Lundahl (Lake Forest, Ill.), 26:23, junior Katherine Quigg (Chillicothe, Ill./ Illinois Valley Central), 26:37, and senior Corrie Campbell (Pittsburgh, Pa/Fox Chapel) 26:43.

The meet was one of the Midwest's largest college meets with 26 institutions and more than 500 runners competed.  The competition was separated into a 17-team college division and a nine-team university division, highlighted by four nationally ranked squads.  The 26 institutions span seven states.

Nationally ranked teams that competed included the Washington University women (No. 3 in Division III), and the DePauw University women (No. 22 in Division III).  The deep and talented field also features five women's squad that are ranked among the top 10 in their respective NCAA Division III regions.

The university division contained regionally ranked NCAA Division II squads in Bellarmine and Northwest Missouri State.

The meet is a tribute to the Gibson Family, which has helped create the nation's top NCAA cross country course that has hosted the Division I national championships for six consecutive years.  Greg Gibson, a 1982 Rose-Hulman graduate, enjoyed a standout cross country as a Fightin' Engineer and has been inducted into the college's Athletic Hall of Fame.
