Rose-Hulman Women's Cross Country Wins Franklin Invitational in Record Setting Effort
FRANKLIN, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned the second women's cross meet victory in school history with a record setting performance at the Franklin College Invitational on Saturday. Junior Rachel Krasich (Westfield) set a school record with a five-kilometer time of 19:30 to earn the individual title and help propel the team effort. Krasich also holds the Engineers six-kilometer school record. Senior Mandy Hecker (Georgetown/ North Harrison) finished second overall in the meet with the third-best time in school history, a mark of 20:02. The time also represented Hecker's personal best effort. Other runners contributing to the winning team score of 49 included freshman Melissa Rogers (Crawfordsville/ Southmont) with a ninth-place in a time of 20:36; freshman Alissa Bishel (Chesterton) with a 15th-place in 20:51; and freshman Amanda Lundahl (Lake Forest, Ill.) with a 22nd place in a time of 21:14. The performance also marked the best team time in a five-kilometer event in the 12-year history of women's cross country at Rose-Hulman. The Engineers return to action at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet on Sept. 15 at the Bird-Gibson Course.
