Rebekah Forsyth Named HCAC Player of the Month

Rebekah Forsyth -- HCAC Player of the Month

TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Rebekah Forsyth (Farmersburg/N. Central) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Month for December in results released today.

To earn the award, Forsyth was selected as the top female athlete in any sport at any institution during the month of December by league sports information directors. Each college is permitted one nominee for the entire athletic department per month, and the nine nominees are placed on one ballot for voting.

This marks the fourth consecutive month that a Rose-Hulman athlete has been HCAC Player of the Month. Women's tennis player Sam Danesis won the award in September, men's soccer forward David McIlwaine won the October award, and basketball forward Brian Bibb claimed a November award.

Forsyth has helped Rose enjoy their best start in school history at 11-1, including a school record eight-game winning streak. The Engineers are currently the only unbeaten team in conference play at 4-0 this season and are receiving votes in the D3hoops.com national poll for the first time in school history.

In December, Forsyth averaged 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. The senior connected on 61% of her field goal attempts and 81% from the free throw line in the month while leading the Engineers to the perfect 6-0 mark.

Forsyth collected two HCAC Player of the Week awards for her efforts in the month and is the first Rose-Hulman women’s basketball player to win the HCAC Player of the Month award.
