ANDERSON, IND. –
The Rose-Hulman men's track squad took top honors at 2008 HCAC
Championships on Saturday afternoon, while the women's team finished
fourth in a strong showing.
The
Rose-Hulman men took top honors with 199 points, besting second
place Anderson who finished with 193 points.
The
Engineer victory marks the first time in 13 years that Anderson
University has not won the men's league title and is the first
conference title in men's track and field title for Rose-Hulman
since 1989.
The feat
is also the first time the Engineers have won a track title in the
HCAC or its predecessor the ICAC.
Head
Coach Larry Cole stated "This championship took a full team effort,
which showed by us scoring in every event." Cole gave a lot of
the credit to his seniors, but also recognized the contributions of
his underclassmen.
"This
team was led by a great group of seniors who performed at their best
level when it counted and a group of seniors that was supported by a
strong group of underclassmen. This was truly a team effort in
every way," stated Cole.
Senior

for the Engineers by breaking the HCAC Championship record in the
