Ben Sollman -- CCIW Men's Co-Swimmer of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND.-- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology freshman Ben Sollman (N. Vernon/ Jennings County) has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Swimmer of the Week for his efforts in the Fightin' Engineer victory at the Principia Invitational on Saturday.

Sollman won the 200-yard backstroke event with a time of 2:05.84, and helped the 200-yard medley relay team captured a victory with a time of 1:43.40.

In addition, Sollman provided a strong performance for the 400-freestyle relay squad that helped the Fightin' Engineers place second.  He rounded out the day with a third-place effort in the 200-freestyle in a time of 1:55.83.

Sollman, who shared the weekly conference honor with Christopher Sykes of Millikin, helped the Rose-Hulman men's team outscore fellow CCIW swimming member Augustana College by a margin of 600-588 overall.  Millikin placed third with 465 points.

Sollman joins teammates Katie Trella, Steven Vande Lune and Brian Yount as CCIW Swimmers of the Week so far this season.

Rose-Hulman competes in the CCIW in men's and women's swimming.  The Engineers compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in 19 sports, and the rifle squad participates in the Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference.

Rose-Hulman will take the week off as preparations begin for the CCIW Men's and Women's Swimming Championships on Feb. 19-21.  The diving portion of the squad returns to action at the Illinois Wesleyan Titan Invitational on Feb. 14.
