Rhys Evans Had Two Goals on Nine
Shots To Lead the Engineers As They Defeated MSJ 4-0 Saturday. |

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman scored all
four goals in the second half to earn a 4-0 men's soccer victory over Mount St.
Joseph to complete a perfect Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference regular season on Saturday.
The Engineers will serve as the top seed for
the HCAC Tournament beginning on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with a matchup against
Hanover College.
Rose-Hulman remained in control the entire
match as they outshot the Lions 27-4. The Lions didn't get their first shot
until the second half.
Rose-Hulman was led by senior Rhys Evans
(Lake Bluff, Ill/ Lake Forest) who led the team with two goals on nine shots.
Senior Kyle Chmielewski (Shawnee, Ky./ Trinity) and junior Joe
Salisbury (Fort Wayne, Ind./ Homestead) added second half goals for the
Engineers.
Salisbury started the scoring for
Rose-Hulman as he took the pass from midfield by junior Eric Myers
(Indianapolis, Ind./ Mount Vernon) and put a shot under the diving goalie
for his first goal of the season.
Evans then scored his first goal just over a
minute later as his header deflected off the goalie into the net. The shot
was set up by a cross from sophomore Logan Peak (Stillwater, Minn.).
Evans then scored again in the 74th minute
as he sped through the defense for an unassisted breakaway goal.
Chmielewski finished the Engineer scoring in
the 86th minute, scoring his first goal of the season when he took a pass from
junior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles, Ill/Burlington Central).
Rose-Hulman improved to 12-5-1 on the season
and 8-0 in the HCAC. The Engineers begin the HCAC Tournament on Tuesday
against Hanover. |
