LEXINGTON, KY. -- One goal was all it took for
the Rose-Hulman men's soccer team to take early control of the
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings by defeating conference
rival Transylvania 1-0.
Senior Rhys Evans (Lake Bluff, Ill/Lake
Forest) had the lone goal on two shots to give the Fightin'
Engineers the lead and first place in the HCAC in a hard-fought
game that featured a 12-7 shooting advantage for the Engineers.
Junior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles, Ill/Burlington Central)
and junior Mitch Buffington (O'fallon, Ill) also chipped
in with two shots each.
Sophomore goalie Eric Davenport (New Lennox,
Ill/Lincoln Way-Central) had three saves on his way to his
first career shutout.
The team improves to 3-4-1 and comes back Sunday
to face Spalding Sunday afternoon in nonconference action.
