Tim Hollingshead scored the first two goals of his college career to help lift Rose-Hulman to victory.

BOX SCORE

CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored three goals in the first 35 minutes to defeat Wabash College 4-2 in men's soccer action on Wednesday.

Junior Mitch Buffington (O'Fallon, Ill.) scored just 23 seconds into the match courtesy of a pass from senior Rhys Evans (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) to give the Engineers a 1-0 lead.

After a score by Dylan Andrew from Wabash knotted the score at 1-1, sophomore Tim Hollingshead (St. Peter's, Mo./Lutheran St. Charles) answered two scores before halftime to give Rose-Hulman control of the match.

Hollingshead scored his first career goal in the 27th minute on an assisted effort.  His second goal took just eight more minutes, as sophomore Clint Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./ University) provided an assist.

Wabash closed within 3-2 at halftime on a late first half score by Austin Jennings.  The defenses stepped up in the second half, with Buffington providing an unassisted goal in the 58th minute for the only score of the second half.

The evenly played match ended with Wabash narrowly outshooting Rose-Hulman 20-18.  The tandem of senior Andy Cheung (Beaufort, S.C./Beaufort Academy) and junior Andy Kruth (Cedar Park, Texas/Vista Ridge) combined for three saves on the afternoon.

Rose-Hulman improved to 2-2-1 and continues one of the nation's most challenging schedules with a trip to No. 6 ranked Ohio Wesleyan on Friday night.  The Fightin' Engineers will also face undefeated Oberlin on Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan.
