Granville, OHIO -- Washington University, one of
the nation's top NCAA Division III men's soccer programs,
claimed a defensive minded battle over Rose-Hulman by a 2-0
count on Saturday.
The Bears narrowly outshot the Fightin' Engineers
by a 12-8 margin in the contest.
Sophomore Clint Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./University)
and senior Rhys Evans (Lake Bluff, Ill.) led the Engineers
with two shots each
Washington University scored first off a penalty
kick from Nat Zenner which gave them a 1-0 lead in the first
half. Early in the second half, Cody Costakis took a free kick
20 yards out around a four-man wall to knock in the second goal.
Rose-Hulman fell to 1-2. The Engineers come
back Sunday to face Case Western at Denison University.
