TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology head coach Sean Helliwell earned his first college
men's soccer victory as head coach as the Engineers topped
Earlham College 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Senior Isaac Heyveld (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap)
recorded the shutout in goal with a strong performance.
Heyveld tallied seven saves in the shutout, including a diving
stab in the box on a strike from Earlham forward Bannet Asingura
with 4:05 left in the second half.
Sophomore Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles,
Ill./Burlington Central) provided the offensive punch with a
score in the second half. Bouagnon scored on a cross from
sophomore Corbin Clow (Martinsville) that was deflected
by freshman Clint Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./University)
at the 61:20 mark.
The evenly contested match finished with Earlham
owning a slight advantage in shots at 12-10. Asingura had
three shots to lead the Earlham offense, and sophomore Will
Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Christian Academy) joined
Bouagnon with three
shots to lead the Engineers.
Rose-Hulman improved to 1-2 on the season with
the victory. The Engineers travel to Kalamazoo College on
Saturday and Finlandia on Sunday in non-conference action.
