Calvin Bueltel -- HCAC Player of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology tied a school record with four players named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for their efforts last weekend.

Football standouts Calvin Bueltel (Huntingburg/Southridge) and Paul Spreen (Williams/Bedford North Lawrence) swept the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping lead Rose-Hulman to a 27-21 victory over perennial HCAC power Mount St. Joseph on Saturday night.

Junior golfer Stephanie Harrington (Houston, Texas/Cinco Ranch) and sophomore soccer player Molly Richardson (Orange Park, Fla./St. John's Country Day) rounded out the honorees.

Bueltel rushed for a career-high 168 yards and two touchdowns to lead Rose-Hulman past Mount St. Joseph.  He scored on runs of 10 and two yards, and his 44-yard sprint on the final drive secured the victory.

On the season, Bueltel leads the HCAC with 381 rushing yards and has added three touchdowns on the ground.  He was also named the Terre Haute Exchange Club Player of the Week, a weekly honor presented at a Tuesday luncheon at the Holiday Inn of Terre Haute.

Spreen recorded eight tackles, including six solo efforts, and recovered a fourth quarter fumble that helped Rose-Hulman earn the win.  He leads the HCAC and entered this week as the national leader in tackles-for-loss this season with 11.

The fourth-year starter has tallied 231 tackles, 57 tackles-for-loss, 18.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles in his gridiron career.

Molly Richardson -- HCAC Player of the Week

Harrington paced Rose-Hulman with a 13th place finish at the DePauw Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. Harrington fired rounds of 80 and 82 at Deer Creek Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

Harrington leads the Engineer golf squad with a scoring average of 82.5 and has two top-five finishes in four events.

Richardson scored in overtime to lead Rose-Hulman past Hanover 3-2 on Saturday. She also had one goal and one assist in a 7-0 win over Spalding.

On the campaign, Richardson ranks second on the Engineers with eight goals and 20 points.  She paces the HCAC with four game-winning goals so far this fall.

The Engineer football team stands 3-1 for the sixth consecutive year and hosts Manchester College as part of Homecoming festivities next weekend.  The Engineers also earned their first win in a conference opener since 2003.

The Rose-Hulman women's golf team will host the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships at Hulman Links on Oct. 11-12, and the soccer team stands 6-3 entering Wednesday night's home match with Millikin University.
