HANOVER, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology men's cross country team captured third-place honors
at the 12-team Hanover College Invitational on Saturday.
The Engineers narrowly missed second place with a
team score of 100 points. Baldwin-Wallace tallied 97
points, while national power Ohio Northern won the meet with 30.
Junior Stephen Boedicker (Delaware, Ohio)
paced Rose-Hulman with a 13th place. Boedicker completed
the challenging eight-kilometer course that will host the 2008
NCAA Division III Championships in a time of 27:42.
Freshman Tyler Kreipke (Zionsville)
finished second among Rose-Hulman and led a strong pack of five
with a time of 28:12. Senior Matt Repking (Effingham,
Ill.) came home just behind Kreipke in 22nd with a time of
28:16.
Other Engineers in the tight pack included
freshman David Caldwell (Plymouth) in 24th with a time of
28:21; sophomore Justin Druba (Hanover/Southwestern) in
25th in 28:27; and junior Ian Thomas (Penville/Jay County)
in 28th with a time of 28:30.
"This was a pretty good day for our cross country
program. We really wanted to finish second, but were happy
to place third against a quality field that featured some of the
top teams in the Midwest," said Rose-Hulman head coach Larry
Cole.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Indiana
Intercollegiate Meet hosted by Purdue University on Friday.
