Stephanie Harrington earned the
first individual conference title in women's golf school history. |
TERRE HAUTE, IND. --
Rose-Hulman junior Stephanie Harrington (Houston, Texas/Cinco
Ranch) captured the 2008 Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference women's golf individual championship to lead the
Engineer effort on Saturday and Sunday.
Harrington was also
crowned the league Player of the Year after firing a round
of 78 on Sunday for a two-day total of 162. She
captured the victory by a two-stroke margin over
Transylvania’s Janca Millett, who shot a second round 79.
Harrington becomes
the first individual women's golf conference champion in
school history and earned her third consecutive all-league
award.
Overall, the
Engineers placed fifth in the seven-team championship event.
Sophomore Allison Luther (Beach Park, Ill./Zion-Benton)
and freshman Bailey Wagner (South Bend/LaVille) both
shot second round scores of 92, to give each a final mark of
188 for the tournament.
