TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology placed 11 players on the all-Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference football team, in results released
today by the league office.
Seven members of the Fightin'
Engineers claimed first-team all-league honors, including one Rose-Hulman
player that earned two all-conference awards. Sophomore
Reed Eason (St. Louis, Mo./ Parkway North) was named first-team
all-league at tight end and second-team all-conference as a punter.
Members of the first-team
all-conference squad included junior
running back Calvin Bueltel (Huntingburg/Southridge); Eason
at tight end; sophomore linebacker Scott Eaton (Fishers/Hamilton
Southeastern); senior defensive end Paul Spreen
(Williams/Bedford Lawrence); senior offensive tackle Nick
Zee-Cheng (Fort Wayne/Homestead); senior kick returner Tim
Schrock (Avon); and senior specialist Bryan Wong
(Warsaw/Tippecanoe Valley).

Reed Eason --

Rose-Hulman also placed four
members on the second-team all-league squad. Eason at punter;
junior quarterback Derek Eitel (Marshall, Ill.); freshman
offensive tackle Jeff Ketchum (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore);
and junior safety Kyle Stevens (Santa Cruz, Calif./Harbor).
In addition, three Engineers
captured honorable mention all-league accolades. Sophomore
Robby Alumbaugh (Mooresville), freshman Brad D'Agnillo
(Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy) and junior Pat Duncan
(Terre Haute/South).
Bueltel led the conference in
rushing yards with 1,096 and added 12 touchdowns and 5.3 yards per
carry in his first year as a full-time starter. The chemical
engineering major rushed for more than 100 yards in each of Rose-Hulman's
first five conference games, including a career-high 168-yard effort
in a victory at Mount St. Joseph.

Scott Eaton --

Eason paced the Engineers in
receiving with 37 catches for 433 yards and five touchdowns.
The mechanical engineering major has hauled in 84 receptions for 968
yards and 10 touchdowns in two seasons as a starter to hold every
career receiving record for an Engineer tight end.
Eaton emerged as a standout
linebacker in his first season as a starter. The mechanical
engineering major ranked second on the team with 70 tackles, despite
missing 10 quarters due to injury. His 40 solo tackles ranked
third on the team, and he led the Engineers with a pair of fumble
recoveries.
Spreen led the HCAC with 16
tackles-for-loss and paced the squad with 78 tackles in 2008.
The mechanical engineering major was a versatile defensive end and
linebacker as a senior, and completes his career in the all-time top
five with 55 tackles-for-loss and 19.5 sacks. Spreen also
tallied 277 tackles as a Fightin' Engineer.

Tim Schrock --

Zee-Cheng had previously
earned two honorable mention all-league accolades before capturing
first-team all-conference honors this year. The biomedical
engineering major started at left tackle for the first time this
season to anchor a line that amassed 3,389 yards of total offense
with 37 touchdowns in 10 games.
Schrock earned his place on
the first-team all-league squad as a kick returner. He holds
the career school record for career kickoff return average at 26.3
yards per return. The chemical engineering major stands third
in school history with 1,052 kick return yards despite ranking ninth
with 40 returns. He also rushed for 1,183 yards and gained 537
receiving yards for an all-purpose career total of 2,782 yards at
Rose-Hulman.
Wong claimed the newly created
first-team specialist slot. The mechanical engineering major
gained time in six games at running back, before starting at
linebacker for the season's last four games. He rushed for
1,267 yards and 14 touchdowns at Rose-Hulman, while amassing 39
tackles this season and 67 in his career as a special teams player
and defensive unit member.

Paul Spreen --

Eitel completed 55% of his
passes for 1,564 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. The
mechanical engineering major finished 131-227 through the air to
increase his totals to 4,784 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns
to rank third in each category on the career list.
Ketchum jumped into the
starting lineup as a freshman at the right tackle position.
The mechanical engineering major started all 10 games and played
nearly every play of the season for the Fightin' Engineer offense.
Stevens started all 10 games
and tied for second on the team with 70 tackles. The
mechanical engineering major led the team with four interceptions,
including snags in the last two minutes of regulations to secure
victories over Manchester and Earlham. Stevens ranks second on
the current squad with 146 career tackles.

Bryan Wong --

Alumbaugh made his first
season as a starter in the secondary count with 34 solo tackles,
four pass breakups and one interceptions. D'Agnillo made an
impact as a freshman with 53 tackles, five pass breakups and two
forced fumbles. Duncan rounded out the honorable mention
all-league awards with 50 tackles on the defensive line and led the
Engineers with four sacks.
Rose-Hulman finished the
season with a 7-3 record and a second-place finish in the HCAC
standings at 5-2. The Engineers opened the season with seven
wins in their first eight games for the first time in 21 years and
closed with the best conference finish since 1988.
