Rose-Hulman News Rose-Hulman Sweeps HCAC Soccer Player of the Week Honors

Rhys Evans -- HCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology swept the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors, in results released Monday by the league.

Senior men's soccer player Rhys Evans (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) joined junior women's soccer player Molly Richardson (Orange Park, Fla./St. John's Country Day) with the league's top weekly honor.

Evans provided the game winning score in a pair of Rose-Hulman road victories last week that helped the Fightin' Engineers maintain the top spot in the league standings.

On Wednesday, Evans scored three minutes into overtime to help Rose-Hulman defeat Anderson 2-1.  His game opening score on Saturday at Hanover helped propel the Engineers to a 2-0 victory.

Evans and the Engineers have won seven straight matches to improve to 9-5-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play, entering Tuesday's home matchup with Franklin.  He is tied for the HCAC lead in goals with six.

Molly Richardson - HCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

Richardson scored the lone goal as Rose-Hulman knocked off previously unbeaten Hanover 1-0 in HCAC action on Saturday.

The score helped Rose-Hulman move into a first place tie in the league standings at 5-1 and improve to 6-8 overall on the season.

Richardson previously scored one goal with one assist in Wednesday's 3-2 victory at Anderson.  She leads the conference with 20 points and ranks second overall in the league with eight goals.

The women's soccer team looks to move one step closer to their second league title in three seasons with a home matchup against Bluffton on Saturday at noon.
