Rachel Krasich
-- All-Academic Women's Cross Country Individual Honoree |
TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The
Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology men’s and women’s
cross country teams have
each earned all-academic
status from the United
States Track and Field
Coaches Association in
results released on the
organization’s website.
Junior women's cross country standout
Rachel Krasich (Westfield) also earned individual All-Academic honors from
the organization to earn the first individual cross country all-academic honor
at Rose-Hulman in more than a decade.
The Engineer men’s cross
country team carries a
cumulative grade point
average of 3.380, while the
women’s team currently holds
a grade point average of
3.370. All-academic teams
are required to hold a 3.1
grade point average and
compete at the NCAA Division
III Regional.
Individual award winners are
required to earn all-region
honors in cross country and
maintain at least a 3.5
grade point average over the
defined term of the award.
Krasich became the first
women's cross country runner
in school history to earn
all-region honors with her
effort last fall.
“This award is a tribute to
the dedication of our cross
country teams, both in the
classroom and in
competition. Over 100 cross
country teams received this
award, but few
student-athletes across the
nation have the academic
challenges and opportunities
that Rose-Hulman provides.
Individually, Rachel defines
the virtues of the
true student-athlete and is
extremely deserving of this
award,”
said head coach Larry Cole.
Rose-Hulman begins the 2007 cross country season at the
Franklin College
Invitational on September 1. |
