Equipment Needed:
5-10 small rocks. Use the same kind (i.e. same density), try to get them smooth without jagged edges, and make them in the 50 - 150 gram range.
100 gram mass from an old science lab scale set. This will be called our known or reference mass. In lieu of this you can use a rock of "known" mass as the standard with which you compare the other rocks.
Shoebox or small container to hold the rocks and the known mass.
Forms (described below) which you use to anonymously collect data and a few pencils - attached by string to the table or box.
A table on which to set out this equipment. The table should be in a public area where students, faculty, and staff can see it, but in a "protected" area where it would not be subject to "vandalism."
