The main issue is to get the student to explore the issues. Access to a computer algebra system or similar interactive computational environment is really important.

The student needs to recognize that the vector rotates as it is multiplied. That is what keeps the bounds from being sharp. The lower bound is particularly useless since it decays to zero, while the solution grows, no matter what starting vector is picked.
