Future payoffs

The future payoffs are substantial if the student takes time to reflect on what is happening. The difference system is an approximation to the differential system that the student may end up studying later.
(1) The student should realize that the behavior can be modeled by applying an "operator" (the difference equations) multiple times.
(2) The student will see how an analysis of the operator itself can yield information on the long term behavior of the system.
